Why I Use It
Google Photos is convenient until you think about what you are actually handing over — every photo, every location, every face, stored on someone else’s infrastructure and used to train models. Immich is the replacement that gives back that convenience without the tradeoff. The mobile app backs up photos and videos automatically in the background, face recognition and object search work locally, and the timeline view is genuinely as good as any commercial alternative. My photos stay on my hardware, and I do not have to think about storage limits or privacy implications.
